Durham Police create confusion
Early on in their "investigation" of this case, the DRPS put out a series of press releases. On March 19, 1995, they released one which created confusion... to this day. The release included a special note which read: "It has now been determined that the 14ft Rowboat was never missing."
According to all the material I have reviewed, DRPS never mentioned a 14ft rowboat. Were they talking about the 14ft Boston Whaler? Aside from the fact that the Whaler was not a rowboat, are they saying that the Whaler, which was reported stolen, was not missing?
This is the type of message that gets released without too much forethought.
